Garrett Chip Install page 2
How does one remove the cover?
It is necessary to remove these 4 "screws". Number 1 is a real screw and can be removed in the usual manner.
Numbers 2, 3 and 4 are "screw clips", and they are somewhat more difficult to remove.
The best thing is to pry upwards on their heads while turning them with a screwdriver at the same time. This is probably the hardest part of the entire job. Don't give up! You'll get them out eventually.
After all four fasteners have been removed, slide the
clip in the middle in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Then remove the rubber seal at the front of the cover by pulling it straight up (you'll see this on the next page).
Now it should be possible to remove the plastic cover by pulling it up and towards the front of the car.
We'll continue on the next page where we'll look at the ECU.
